Lua is a programming language that offers a very impressive set of features while keeping everything fast, small and portable. The Kepler Platform uses these features to offer a faster, smaller and more portable way to develop Web applications. Lua has a very efficient implementation. Independent benchmarks such as the Gentoo: IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® 4 [Computer Language Shootout](http://shootout.alioth.debian.org/gp4/lua.php) place Lua as faster when compared to Python, Perl, PHP and Ruby. If you want to find out more about Lua you can go to the official [Lua site](http://lua.org) or the [Lua Wiki](http://lua-users.org/wiki/). For a general overview of the language characteristics you can check the [About Lua](http://www.lua.org/about.html) page. You can also consult one of the several books about Lua, including [Programming in Lua](http://www.amazon.com/dp/8590379825?tag=keplerproject-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=8590379825&adid=0S1V2K5JET4B1X70KBMG&) by one of the Lua's authors, [Roberto Ierusalimschy](http://www.inf.puc-rio.br/~roberto/). The Lua community is constantly contributing new modules, many of which can be found on [LuaForge](http://luaforge.net).
